And a special announcement
Heart Screen for Teens
On March 6th, between 8 and 12, the Peachtree Ridge PTSA
is sponsoring "Heart Screen for Teens."   This program is an
echocardiogram which can detect most of the structural
abnormalities of the heart that cause the majority of sudden
death events in teenagers. Heart Screens for Teens will send a
certified technician and for a charge of $58, (a fraction of the
normal cost of a full echocardiogram, normally $900-1,500), will
perform the test. Their fee covers just the cost of the technician's
time and the reading provided by a pediatric cardiologist.
Walk-in appointments will be possible if times are available. A
consent form is required, so an adult must be present.
Approximately a week after the scan is done, you will receive a
letter from Heart Screens for Teens with the results. The
procedure takes about 10 minutes and is available for teens age
11 to 18. If you would like to participate in the program, call
770-815-8706 or email peachtreeridgeptsa@yahoo.com to
arrange an appointment between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m.
